Each month, we take one global critical challenge and explore what’s happening on the frontier of innovation, where FCDO colleagues are working with partners to test solutions in the real world.

Who is in the Frontier Tech Hub Network?

Our Network membership is diverse, international, and growing. Some of our members have deep expertise in particular technologies, while others have backgrounds in international development or policy. Members range from FCDO civil servants, technologists, NGOs, futurists. Some are simply curious about what’s possible.

When you sign up, we’ll ask you for some information about your background or interests which we can then use to help us tailor our events and newsletters.

What do we do?

  • On a regular basis, we host virtual events that celebrate the work of our international cohort of pilots. Our events might be themed by technology (e.g Drones) geography (e.g. Latin America), or challenge (e.g. Climate), and they always put the testing and impact of our pilots on a stage.

    For example, we’ve hosted events which have reflected on the successes of now-completed pilots, and run discussions about the use of UAVs in medical contexts. Come along to be inspired.

  • From technical evidence generated by in-depth research to the practice-led learning that takes place on our pilots, the Frontier Tech Hub generates insights that need to be shared. The Network convenes semi-regularly throughout the year to offer our community the opportunity to be informed by and contribute to our growing library of evidence.

    For example, we’ve recently convened diverse panels of experts on Climate Financing and E-Mobility to contribute to reports. Come along to be informed.
